Impro Technologies recently launched a completely redesigned network controller to complement its range.
The ImproX ECII is a true network compatible controller with communication speeds of up to 100 Mbps across a LAN or WAN and direct communication between independent controllers. The most noteworthy change however is that the controller is now fully embedded, running a Linux operating system and SQLite database. The speed of the controller is based on an ARM9 processor that runs at 200 million instructions per second (mips) allowing the onboard database – holding up to 300 000 tag holders, 3000 locations information and 1 million buffered transactions – to be read instantaneously.
The controller package is completed with advanced, onboard database preservation techniques designed to protect against the impact of long-term power failures. The controller allows custom configuration of battery backed-up operations and hibernation time and at which stage the onboard database should be backed up to an external drive such as a USB memory stick.
