The Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC), as part of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), recently endorsed certification of FFT ’s Secure Link system – making it the first such fibre-optic based sensing system to gain such accreditation.
The so-called ASIO T4 accreditation means the company can now be specified for use by local, state or federal government sites or by defence installations.
The tests were conducted by ASIO's Protective Security T4 section. ASIO provides protective security advice to Australian government departments, agencies and business enterprises.
T4 refers to the Federal Department within ASIO that conducts the actual testing. The endorsement’s name stems from a specific unit within ASIO that handled technical issues, known as ‘T’ Branch. T4 was the fourth area within this technical unit that focused on protective security.
