Representatives of the security industry in South Africa gathered at Montecasino in April for a preview of the latest, state-of-the-art Panasonic closed circuit video equipment (CCVE), imported to and distributed in South Africa exclusively by NPC (Electronics).
Full-featured models in each category of the security solution value chain were demonstrated (ie, image capture, recording/archiving and viewing), along with I-Pro network products and biometric identification systems.
The line-up included a selection of Panasonic Super Dynamic III (SDIII) surveillance cameras, which require very low levels of illumination, and are capable of capturing images even in deeply shadowed areas. This is coupled with wide band digital signal processing, which produces an industry-leading high-resolution for improved and definitive identification (540 TV lines in colour and 570 TV lines in black-and-white).
The cameras also include features such as Auto Image Stabiliser, Scene Change Detection, automatic switching between colour and black-and-white modes, and the installation flexibility of control via coax or RS485 data communication cables.
In addition, the event served to introduce Panasonic's latest offering in the biometrics arena, in the form of the BM-ET330 Iris Reader. Using both irises for identification, this tool adds tremendous value to high-security areas and facilities where stringent access control must be exercised.
