A locally developed GSM messaging system has been launched for domestic, industrial or security applications. Allowing remote control of systems as well as gathering instant, accurate information about events is critical in today's world. Although the concept of connecting burglar alarms or machinery to an SMS communicator is not a new one, the approach taken by Sabercom is. The product, called GSMio, has been dubbed Gizmo by users, who are impressed by its small size and amazing capabilities. The GSMio was designed with ease-of-use in mind. From basic screw terminal connectors for ease of installation, to the simple windows-based software, which makes programming 'child's play' and eliminates the need to involve third-parties to assist. This dramatically improves the security of the system, because the user is the only one who needs to know what has been programmed. Once programmed via USB cable, the GSMio stores all relevant information on board and no longer needs a PC to operate. Of course the program can be updated via SMS at anytime. Once programmed GSMio can be connected to your burglar alarm to give warning of intruders, mains fail or battery low detected by directly sending an SMS to your cellphone and up to seven other cellphones. The GSMio can also send instructions, to arm alarms, turn on lights, open gates or turn off the sprinklers. It is not necessary to sign-up on a contract as GSMio is prepaid ready and gives you an airtime balance and signal strength indication daily. Due to the automatic output triggers the GSMio can be used as a simple alarm ideal for holiday homes.
