Sony has launched an intelligent Internet Protocol (IP) based network camera that can detect unattended items and human movement with its Intelligent Motion Detection and Intelligent Object Detection capabilities. The SNC-CS50P, which will be available from Reditron, is the first in a new generation of Sony cameras that carries out the image processing inside the camera.
Sony's Intelligent Object Detection feature is capable of detecting packages that have been abandoned and delivering this information to the control room.
Intelligent Motion Detection from Sony distinguishes between multiple subjects in motion and environmental conditions, such as swaying trees or moving water moving within the camera's detection range.
"Our product development is focused upon de-centralising the intelligence and, by placing it on the edge of the network, reducing bandwidth demands. This enables a better flow of information back to the control room and helps security staff make more informed decisions," says Will Klopper, Sony Business SA product manager. "When combined with the camera's high quality image and feature set, the device's intelligent capabilities increase the information available to security teams, maximise network video management possibilities and enable operatives to work more effectively."
Workflow is enhanced further through the dual-streaming capability of the SNC-CS50P with its support for JPEG, MPEG4 and H.264. The camera provides the flexibility to transmit a high-resolution stream for local recording and viewing, together with a low-resolution stream that can be transmitted remotely over low bandwidth connections.
Combined with the CS-mount, IR compensated vari-focal lens and SuperExwave technology, the Day/Night(tm) function permits the use of the SNC-CS50P in variable or poor light conditions. The camera supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) and other features include wireless and multicasting capabilities, IP filtering, an anti-tampering function, bi-directional audio and simultaneous access for up to 20 users.
