New security technology for logistics industry

October 2004 News & Events

Aluvin Securiseal, sole distributor of the OEM Group in southern Africa, has announced that the tried and tested Secureseal and Secureloc products are now available with radio frequency identification (RFID) capability.

The Secureseal and Secureloc are re-usable mechanical seals for the transport and logistics industries.

Ben Grant, MD OEM Group, says that this type of product has become standard equipment in the retail and supermarket industries across the UK and Europe - especially where multidrop deliveries are executed.

Kevin Norwitz, MD Aluvin, says that the major advantage of the new products is that they operate in conjunction with a trailer management system, which makes the seals an important element in the entire supply chain management system of the organisation. "This improves efficiencies and significantly cuts down on losses," he says.

"But," says Norwitz, "the revolutionary breakthrough for the local logistics industry is that the trailer and its contents - which can be far more valuable than the cab - are monitored, not just the cab. Currently, if the cab is separated from the trailer or goods are removed from the trailer, the available tracking systems focus on the cab, while the trailer and its contents are not monitored. Our new technology changes that."
