The Electronic Security Distributors Association (ESDA) held its annual golf day on 25 June at the Glendower Golf Club. For the first time it was a unanimous decision among the executive committee members to make it a charity golf day with the Edenvale SPCA being the beneficiary.
Although it was held in the middle of winter, the weather proved to be on the side of the golfers and 76 golfers participated in the challenge. The Glendower Golf Course was in good shape and apparently not for the fainthearted in terms of difficulty rating - so a challenge it was!
Congratulations to all the 4-ball players, especially the team from Radio Data Communications who walked off with first prize.
Besides holding two raffles, an auction also took place which added to the fun, once again the proceeds went to the SPCA. The highlight of the evening was that over R7000 was raised for the SPCA and Denise Beattie of the Edenvale SPCA collected the cheque. As the cheque was handed over, Reditron agreed to double the money - this meant that the SPCA went home with a staggering R14 000.
Plans are already in place for the 2005 ESDA Golf Challenge which will take place during May 2005.
