Psion Teklogix, a specialist in rugged mobile computing devices and wireless LAN system implementation and support, has announced a strategic partnership with Wavetrend Technologies, which specialises in technology providing active, realtime wireless identification of assets.
Under the terms of the partnership, Psion Teklogix will integrate Wavetrend's active RFID reader technology - developed in South Africa - into its Workabout handheld devices to enable the two companies' global customer base to benefit from enhanced identification and tracking functionality.
Durable and designed for a wide variety of non-contact scanning business applications such as airline baggage management or postal tracking, the Workabout handheld computer uses Wavetrend's active RFID platform to improve both the accuracy and the efficiency of data collection.
"This partnership is a big step forward for the RFID market," added Iain Bell, director, Wavetrend Technologies. "By combining Psion Teklogix' devices with our industry-leading hardware and software, we are able to market a complete active RFID solution that will enable users to capture the full functionality of this technology."
