HID and versus Technology partner to create fully operational asset tracking system

May 2000 Asset Management

HID Corporation and Versus Technology recently announced the availability of the Eagle Eye system, an asset tracking product that integrates HID ProxTrak tags and readers, at this year's International Security Conference in Las Vegas. The Eagle Eye system associates asset protection rights with specific cardholders to determine whether an asset is being moved appropriately. With the added functionality of HID ProxTrak radio-frequency identification (RFID) asset tracking products, security personnel can implement a wide variety of asset tracking solutions from electronic asset check-in/check-out to accurate asset inventories.

The Eagle Eye/ProxTrak package is compatible with the industry-standard Wiegand access control format, so minimal retrofitting is required to add asset tracking capabilities to existing access control systems. Once the Eagle Eye software and the HID tags and readers are installed, users can immediately begin tracking the movement of assets into and out of their facilities. The system is also SQL-compatible, so it can share information with most access control databases, minimising the time needed to populate its database.

"The development between Versus and HID will create a universally compatible asset tracking package that can scale to meet the objectives of almost any organisation," explained John Hunepohl, Versus' Director of Sales, Security Products Division. "We chose to partner with HID because they are spearheading the development of asset tracking technology and their ProxTrak products work now."

"In partnering with Versus, we are able to provide the industry with another best-of-breed asset tracking product that is seamlessly compatible with our ProxTrak tags and readers," said Steve Wagner, HID Vice President of Business Development.

"The development of the Eagle Eye/ProxTrak system reflects HID's commitment to provide the channel and security executives with the tools they need to solve the increasingly complex security challenges they are faced with."
