Linking of security officers by security businesses

March 2024 News & Events, Security Services & Risk Management

[Sponsored] By law, all security businesses are required to declare their employees to PSiRA so that they can be accounted for administratively. Failure to link employees by security businesses is a contravention of the Code of Conduct and a criminal offence, and businesses may be liable to a fine, imprisonment, or both.

Security officers can check if their employer has linked them to their security business or declared them to PSiRA. This can be done through the ePSiRA online platform.

Security officers can check if they are linked to a security business by doing the following:

Option 1

• Logging on their ePSiRA portal https://digitalservices.psira.co.za/login.

• Click on the member link.

• If an employee is linked, details of the employer will be displayed together with the employee number and start date.

• If an employee is not linked, no details will be displayed, and if they are employed, they must immediately report it to PSiRA.

Option 2

• Visit www.psira.co.za.

• On the home page, click on individual verification (https://digitalservices.psira.co.za/verify-user/4).

• Enter your ID number or PSiRA number, then click search.

• If an employee is linked, their registration status will appear as Active, and the name of the employer will be displayed.

• If an employee is not linked, their employment status will appear as Inactive, and if they are employed, they must immediately report it to PSiRA.

Security officers can anonymously report employers that have not linked them to the security business they work for through the following:

• Email: [email protected].

• Telephone 0860 333 036.
