New enterprise security appliance

November 2014 Products & Solutions, Infrastructure

A new enterprise security appliance has been launched by Duxbury Networking designed to offer comprehensive network security through the integration of multiple security features into a single device.

Targeted at small to medium-size enterprises (SMEs), the Cyberoam CR50iNG is sited at the network gateway to protect against application threats, vulnerabilities in web applications and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) challenges as well as data leakage over websites and applications, sophisticated blended attacks, malware, spam, spyware and other evolving external threats.

“Growing businesses with rapidly expanding network horizons are demanding increased security with improved management to address the evolving requirements of network virtualisation and the increasing use of web applications,” says Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.

“The new Cyberoam appliance helps organisations prepare for emerging security risks by addressing issues such as insider threats, vanishing trust boundaries and compliance management. It protects both the physical and virtual aspects of the network through user-identity-based policy controls,” he explains.

“By attaching a user identity to security tasks, organisations are able to remain a step ahead of many conventional solutions that simply bind security to IP addresses. By offering instant visibility into the source of attacks by username rather than IP address helps facilitate the immediate remediation of the threat. It also promotes proactive security.”

According to Robb, the Cyberoam CR50iNG offers an extensible platform designed to grow with the future security needs of an organisation without degrading system performance. It supports a number of feature enhancements that can be developed rapidly and deployed with minimum effort.
