Archie Griffiths passes away

Hi-Tech Security Solutions wishes to express its condolences to the family and friends of Archie Griffiths, the founder of GriffithsReid, who passed away last month. After seeing the company he co-founded in 1969 growing from strength to strength, Griffiths retired in 2002 and shortly thereafter celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary.

Plug-and-play PON

Letlhaka Technologies has announced the industry’s only modular ONT for business and backhaul applications. “Business subscribers demand a very wide variety in the services they need, ranging from many T1s for wireless backhaul to mixed TDM and Ethernet for small businesses to gigabit Ethernet for data centres and ISPs. Alloptic makes delivering those services much easier for network operators,” said Lloyd Wood, Letlhaka Technologies sales manager. The Alloptic Xgen9000 unit offers four expansion ports to deliver up to 20 T1/E1 circuits and 24 voice lines along with 17 Ethernet ports and RF video control. All modules are hot-swappable, and redundant optical network ports are available for high-availability SLA requirements.

Axis wins international award

Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, has won the Detektor International Award for best video surveillance product (CCTV) for the third time. The acknowledgement comes just as new numbers from IMS Research were published. The numbers show that Axis Communications has strengthened its position as the world’s leading producer of network-based video surveillance systems.

Another summit
