Live protection of mobile assets

October 2008 Asset Management

The TeleEye RX504 mobile IP video recording server is designed for mobile surveillance and alarm monitoring, enabling the transmission of mobile CCTV video and data via GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA and HSUPA mobile networks.

The RX504 enables organisations to deploy a complete end-to-end remote video alarm monitoring and verification solution, while providing management concurrent live video viewing from PCs or mobile phones. Organisations can deploy TeleEye remote monitoring and alarm verification solutions at their sites, but can now also protect their valuable personnel and assets in transit, by extending the TeleEye solution across their vehicle fleets, keeping a close watch from site to site.

The RX 504 server is of particular value in mobile vehicle fleets, cash in transit, emergency services, public transport and secure delivery vehicles. The RX 504 has found its way into many security and management applications where rapid deployment, field surveillance or covert applications are required. Due to low power consumption and the ability to connect the RX 504 directly to Huawei USB mobile data modems supplied by mobile phone operators, users can now receive live video and alarm events from anywhere a mobile data service is available. RS232 and Ethernet ports are available for concurrent or failover connectivity over a range of communication mediums.

Organisations that do not wish to conduct their own video alarm verification and management, may subscribe to a wide choice of security companies and remote video response centres (RVRC) countrywide that can receive live video and audio as events occur. The RVRC operator can then dispatch response units and also remotely trigger electronic devices such as immobilisers, sirens, pepper spray systems (in load bays) and other deterrents. The audio feature enables the RVRC operator to broadcast audio via the on board PA system or communicate via an intercom station fitted to the vehicle. Mobile armed response and air support services are available to complete the monitoring solution and can be offered by the RVRC. With on-board DVD quality recording, video can be easily extracted for evidence or interrogation when the vehicle is in range of mobile data signals or at the depot via wireless LAN connection.

The RX 504 uses TeleEye’s SMAC-M multistream video coding technology, which records for 60% longer and transmits 50% faster than the MPEG-4 equivalent. Its design also ensures high reliability in the demanding transport environment where power surges, extreme temperatures and vibration shock are normal.
