Optex Fit outdoor detectors

August 2010 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

If the very real possibility of being woken up by burglars inside your home does not instil terror in you, you need to consider that the vast majority of robberies are committed with firearms and that shots are frequently fired at victims. You also need to know that, according to South African police statistics, robberies at residential premises jumped from 14 481 in 2007/2008 to 18 438 in 2008/2009.

Having considered these facts, it makes good sense to install a security system that warns of the presence of an intruder before he gets into your home, say the experts at Elvey Security Technologies.

The new Optex Fit range of outdoor detectors has been developed to suit all kinds of external environments including balconies, alleyways, doors and windows, in both daylight and low level light, the aesthetically pleasing FIT Series has been designed to provide the highest levels of performance in three key areas: intruder detection, false alarm immunity and anti-mask protection. In addition, the wireless capability saves on installation time and cost.

Its multiple features include a 190° built-in bracket to enable horizontal radiation, which makes it possible to blank out specified areas or objects with ease. The SMDA (super multidimension analysis) logic is the ultimate in sensitivity optimisation. Every motion picked up by the detector is analysed before the unit signals an alarm, significantly reducing false alarm rates and missed detections. At long last the days of false alarms caused by direct sunlight, shade, temperature changes, moving pets and swaying plants, are over.

Designed to detect an intruder long before he gets inside your home, the unit offers flexible PIR (passive infrared) detection of up to 5 x 1 m and within 0,3 to 1,5 milliseconds.

Further, its IP55 rated enclosures are weatherproof, tough and durable, making it ideal for use in more challenging environments. Well-insulated against dust, falling dirt and dripping, non-corrosive liquids, it can be installed with confidence not only in your home but in commercial buildings and even workshops.
