Security Technologies Group announces impact resistant guardian series reader range

August 2010 Access Control & Identity Management

Security Technologies Group (STG) has announced the availability of a range of impact resistant 125 kHz proximity readers to augment its range of readers and credentials. Designed to meet the exacting requirements of US correctional facilities, the Guardian series of impact resistant proximity readers are now available to meet the requirements of not only correctional facilities, but also address other installations where their unique properties will be of benefit.

“Although we have had a vandal resistant reader within our portfolio for some time, in the guise of the P-400 Gibraltar Bullet Proof reader, this was considered unsuitable for correctional facilities. The P-400, being made of stainless steel and with sharp edges, could be used as a weapon should an inmate manage to prise this off the wall”, said Denis Kane, director of Security Technologies Group.

To counter these concerns, the Guardian series readers have no sharp edges. As they are manufactured from a solid block of polycarbonate with a potted proximity core, they can be cleaned by a high pressure water hose which was an additional requirement for this sector.

There are three models within the Guardian range; the P-403 is a mullion mount reader with a read range of up to 6 inches (152 mm) and dimensions of 114,3 x 69,85 x 25,4 mm, the P-405 mounts on a US single gang wall box (metal or plastic) and also has a 6 inch (152 mm) read range and dimensions of 133,35 x 51 x 25,4mm), the final reader ,the P-410, mounts to a standard US sized double gang wall box (metal or plastic) and has a read range of 8 inches (203 mm) with dimensions of 117,6 x 127 x 25,4mm.

These, together with the complete range of advanced readers and credentials, are in available in Africa through G2 Security (Nichola@g2security.co.za).
