Meet the new standard in biometrics

February 2016 Access Control & Identity Management

BioStation A2 is Suprema’s most advanced fingerprint access control and time and attendance terminal featuring Suprema’s next generation biometric technology and security platform. BioStation A2 provides class leading capabilities through the world’s best matching performance, uncompromised security and accuracy along with top-notch usability.

Incredible performance

The highlight of the features centre on its identification performance. The BioStation A2 features quad-core CPU for the first time among Suprema terminals and provides incredible enhancement to its performance. The terminal can match up to 150 000 fingerprints per second, which make it the fastest biometric terminal in the world. Along with increased 8GB memory, BioStation A2 can store up to 500 000 users and provides instant results with minimal lag time.

Protecting the identity of users

Enhanced security is ensured by combining Suprema’s enhanced fingerprint algorithm, a new fingerprint sensor and live finger detection technology. The new enhanced algorithm is more accurate than ever and significantly reduces false rejection rates, even in conditions that are not ideal for fingerprint capture. It compensates for unsatisfactory fingerprint captures such as direct sunlight conditions or distorted finger images. BioStation A2 also features new live finger detection technology with an improved algorithm and optical technique that effectively eliminates possible fraud using various materials of fake fingers.

Premium design and simple to use

BioStation A2 blends form and function with industry-leading design and features. The terminal incorporates high quality materials such as glass and a new gold colour finish for premium look and feel. Designed to secure maximum usability for users, BioStation A2 features a five-inch IPS LCD touchscreen which provides wide viewing angles and easy operation that is further extended by a special reinforced glass screen that ensures maximum screen visibility as well as protection from dust, scratches and impacts. The capacitive touchscreen interface recognises your finger movements and interactions more accurately and the improved graphical user interface incorporates material design concepts inspired by Android, offering the user a self-explanatory and easy to understand interface.

BioStation A2 is preloaded with BioStar2 and serves as the Web server for all of the compatible devices on the network thus offering extra flexibility in system design for sites large or small. With BioStar 2 loaded there is no need for external servers and is managed through BioStar 2’s easy to use Web interface, accessible from any browser enabled device via local intranet or through the Cloud.

“BioStation A2 shows Suprema’s technology leadership and initiative to biometrics and will once again revolutionise the industry as BioStation did back in 2006,” said James Lee, CEO of Suprema. “The terminal represents amalgamation of countless innovations Suprema has achieved and it will reshape the boundaries of what biometric can do for security by offering next level user experience with its speed and usability.”

“Suprema has once again set the new standard in biometrics,” said Walter Rautenbach, MD of neaMetrics, distributor of Suprema in Africa. “The new sensor technology is fantastic, overcoming industry barriers of biometric usability, and the incomparable capacity and performance improvements show how Suprema effectively apply the technology evolution to deliver superior solutions. Exceptional design principles, followed through with enhanced functionality and usability is what makes Suprema the trusted provider for biometric identity.”
