ASIS South Africa has announced a new format for its conferences in South Africa and is holding a Technology Concepts Day on 21 February 2019. At the conference, ASIS SA will offer delegates a chance to gain insights into the latest risk management standards and assessment frameworks for external security vulnerabilities in the morning, followed by practical demonstrations of the technology in action in the afternoon.
Says Dave Dodge, chairman of ASIS SA, “This event will not only focus on theory, but will include vendor demonstrations of how their technology performs in specific scenarios. In this event, we will focus on external areas, such as perimeter and open area security.
“The scenarios will be developed by certified ASIS PSPs (Physical Security Professionals) in accordance with ASIS standards and principles, and the vendors and manufacturers will then be able to build the solution. Attendees will not only be able to view the demonstration in action, but also participate to provide them with a clear idea of how effective the solution is in a real-world setting.”
In addition to technology, each scenario will also have a manned component, just as there would be in a real-world situation.
The ASIS all-day event will be held at the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate on Thursday 21 February 2019. The cost to attend the full day, including lunch and refreshments is R 500 for ASIS members and R2000 for non-members.
There will be five general technology areas covered on the day:
1. Surveillance: thermal and megapixel fixed lens and PTZ cameras.
2. Drones: fixed wing and rotary.
3. Radar: digital beamforming and thermal radar.
4. Tracking of personnel.
5. Fencing solutions.
