BMW dealer chooses Uniview

September 2018 Surveillance

BMW, is one of the most successful and profitable luxury car brands and a top-20 multi-national automotive company founded in 1916 and headquartered in Munich, Germany. BMW currently produces luxury automobiles and motorcycles.

BMW Menlyn Auto is one of the biggest BMW dealers in South Africa. With increasing security requirements of the dealership, Uniview delivered a complete video surveillance solution with more than 100 cameras to keep the entire location safe.

Solution highlights

All the cameras installed made use of Uniview’s Ultra 265 compression, which can save up to 75% of your storage costs while maintaining the same image quality.

The cameras also supported Uniview’s Smart function, which includes face detection, intrusion detection, and so on. For the face detection integrated with blacklist/whitelist filtering, it enables the system to spot a target person and send alarms instantly to a management centre. The dealership used intrusion detection via video surveillance solution mainly to monitor and protect controlled areas.

Among the cameras installed was the Uniview 360° fisheye camera. These 4K cameras provide a 360-degree view in ultra HD. The highest resolution available is 12 MP.

In addition, the e-PTZ mode helps to display detailed images in certain areas, while the built-in microphone and audio allows sounds to be recorded with the video and for controllers to speak to potential intruders.

For storage, the UNV NVR516 series NVR was chosen as it supports up to 112 channels at 2 MP.
