Motorola Solutions has launched a series of new communications products to the South African market. The products include the next-generation MOTOTRBO radios and interoperability communication solution, WAVE 3000, which will be available through Motorola Solutions’ South African partners.
“Aside from offering a wide variety of products, we also keep in mind that businesses often work over different platforms,” said Pieter Pienaar, senior regional sales manager, Motorola Solutions Africa. “With the WAVE Work Group solution, customers are provided a unified experience across radio, mobile and Wi-Fi that keeps teams connected no matter the network.”
Motorola Solutions’ latest MOTOTRBO digital radios use Wi-Fi connectivity for software updates, saving hundreds of hours of lost productivity. For a group of 350 workers, updating devices can mean 400 lost hours. MOTOTRBO radios update seamlessly without the need to drop off devices. Coupled with 29 hours of battery life, the new line keeps workers in the field or on the job instead of waiting for new software.
Responding to rising demand for flexible two-way radio solutions, the company has introduced MOTOTRBO Capacity Max, a scalable solution with significant advantages in capacity, performance and manageability. Capacity Max can be scaled from a single-site system to projects that demand up to 3000 users per site for voice and data-intensive deployments. It also supports the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) standard for multi-vendor interoperability, including the Tier III mode of operation.
Next-generation MOTOTRBO also includes the SLR 8000 series, a high-power repeater that amplifies a signal to help extend coverage for communication networks such as Capacity Max. The SLR 8000 is built on the same platform as the popular SLR 5000 series and allows customers to deploy systems that cover wide geographical areas. The SLR 8000 features a flexible architecture, enabling customers to easily configure the repeater to meet their system deployment needs for extreme reliability.
Seamless collaboration
Motorola also introduced its WAVE Work Group Communications for enhanced connectivity, interoperability and collaboration. WAVE is a broadband push-to-talk (PTT) solution that delivers real-time voice and data securely over any network, using any device. From two-way radios to smartphones, laptops to landlines, tablets to rugged handhelds, users can use the devices they already have and the networks they already subscribe to and communicate via PTT with other teams and individuals both inside and outside of their communication system.
Vertex Standard simplifies communications
Motorola company, Vertex Standard, a manufacturer of two-way radios also announced the launch of its new radio communications solutions in South Africa.
The VZ-30 is a cost-effective two-way radio for both basic and intermediate users. It is equipped with robust features that ensure reliable communication for both small- and medium-sized businesses. Built-in voiceactivated transmission (VOX) enables hands-free operation without having to use a push-to-talk button, thus maximising productivity and efficiency. Other features include:
• Channel voice announcement enables users to toggle between channels without having to look at the radio.
• A powerful 1800 mAh lithium-ion battery provides up to 11 hours of talk time.
• Two-prong pin side connector supports standard audio accessories.
As demand for digital radio communication rises, small and medium businesses are looking for simple and affordable communications solutions, without compromising on quality. The EVX-261 is suited to businesses looking for an entry-level digital radio. The compact device boasts features such as:
• Superior audio output.
• Expanded interoperability with abundant signalling options, including MDC1200, DTMF, two-tone and five-tone capabilities.
• Voice inversion encryption, which provides seamless integration into a mixed fleet.
• Lone Worker, an emergency feature that triggers an emergency alert if the user has not reset the device within a predetermined interval.
Use your existing network to reduce network costs
Expanding reach and simplifying communications for geographically dispersed teams is now made easier with the EVX-Link. This small and lightweight system offers greater speed, agility and affordability. EVX-Link allows digital radios to connect easily and seamlessly with multiple coverage areas regardless of geography. The system is portable and expandable, and can be installed virtually anywhere. There’s no need to replace any infrastructure or employ an additional repeater. Additionally, EVX-Link features compatibility with all RF bands and any DMR digital platform, simple set-up and configuration, and expandable coverage of up to 32 sites – all in an affordable solution deployed over traditional systems using IP connections.
The VX series of portable two-way HF radios are digital devices that operate both as mobile and base-station operations for integrated, affordable communications. VX-1400 and VX-1700 store up to 512 and 200 channels respectively, in multiple groups, with the flexibility of having any number of channels per group.
