At iLegal 2016, to be held on 20 April at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg, Hi-Tech Security Solutions and Dr Craig Donald will be hosting a session dealing with the latest tool in the endless fight against crime, drones.
The session will commence with a presentation by Lisa Emma-Iwuoha from Michalsons Attorneys. She will focus on cutting through the legal jargon and explaining what the legal issues are with respect to owning and operating a UAD (unmanned aerial device, or drone) within the context of the latest South African regulations and legislation.
Following the legal eagle, a panel discussion will be held where industry leaders will explain their experience with UADs, specifically with respect to the security industry. Topics to be discussed will include where drones have proven useful, where there is a better solution, the dos and don’ts of using these aerial vehicles, and a look at the costs versus the benefits. Naturally, the legal aspects of drone operations will also be included in the discussion.
The panel discussion is primarily aimed at those attendees who are considering using drones in their security strategy, and the audience will be given the chance to pose their own questions to the panel. This session is designed to clear up any misunderstandings about the legality and utility of using drones for security operations.
