Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices are going to become prevalent in the industry. Astute Electronics has just completed beta testing its BLE receiver. The receiver is not intended to replace traditional RF / rolling code transmitters, but to provide an alternative means of opening a gate or garage door with your mobile phone. The company sees BLE technology as a gateway to the development of mobile apps and associated hardware. Common uses of BLE technology are fitness bracelets and advertising beacons. Astute is busy designing BLE points to use in conjunction with the OnGuard Mobi app which is intended for guard patrol use. See www.bluelock.co.za for more information.
