The South African Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA) breakfast was held in collaboration with the ESDA (Electronic Security Distributors Association) road show on 29 July at the upmarket Riverclub venue in Observatory.
According to SAIDSA’s Craig van Rensburg, the event was a great success, with 210 delegates enjoying a hearty breakfast while listening to Van Rensburg, SAIDSA chairman Pierre Gouws, Johan Hulme, Alan Kusevitsky and Richard Frost sharing information on the implementation of the Western Cape’s Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) project and the intricacies of Bylaws 1, 3 and 5.
The primary drive of the event was to inform delegates about the advantages of becoming members of SAIDSA. Van Rensburg explains that there are simply too many substandard installers in the marketplace and SAIDSA aims to bring reputable installers up to date on accepted practice, in line with the various Bylaws.
Van Rensburg is extremely happy with the response the association received from delegates, pointing out that a number of companies who attended have already been the subject of pre-inspections prior to their acceptance as possible members.
Lee-Ann Andreka of ESDA says the opportunity to exhibit member products at a SAIDSA event is highly advantageous to its members.
“We have a symbiotic relationship whereby our customers are current or potential SAIDSA members so the event allows a seamless crossover of knowledge sharing on all fronts.”
The layout of the event was designed in such a way that all
delegates were required to pass through the exhibition area before leaving. With the breakfast starting at 8:30 and the exhibition opening at 10:00 and finishing at 13:00, delegates were given ample opportunity to discuss their needs with the 11 exhibitors, who included Onguard, Nemtek, Vixnet, Regal, Space TV, FSK, RDC, Elvey, Videofied, Tri-BPT and TPA Security Distributors. Each exhibitor received a 3x2 m shell scheme stand with fascia board, lighting, table and chairs.
Andreka says that the exhibition space, which is allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, was affordable and easy to set up. She says that ESDA would be keen to pursue future events of this kind as the pre-event and on-event marketing provides a great branding opportunity for members.
