Sensor Security Open Day

May 2015 News & Events

Sensor Security Systems held an open day earlier this year in which it invited everyone to its Midrand warehouse and office for a drink and a snack. It was also a chance to see the latest Hikvision products available from Sensor, set up in a demonstration area where visitors could see the products in action. Hi-Tech Security Solutions was fortunate to be taken through the demonstration area and introduced to some existing and some new Hikvision products.

Starting with the 2-Line budget products which consist of a range of cameras – bullet, dome, IR etc. – along with recording solutions including a PoE (power over Ethernet) NVR, the systems offer up to three-megapixel resolutions with onboard storage also available. The systems can be managed by independent video management systems (VMS), or Hikvision’s own iVMS-4200 that is available for free for up to 256 devices.

Hikvision has designed its systems to be plug-and-play compatible, allowing users to simply plug the camera in and use it.

The 4-Line system is a step up and offers higher resolution cameras with additional functionality and further benefits in the recording solutions. It also supports PoE with IR on many cameras. This range consists of the products that compete with the high-level competition from other vendors in the enterprise market.

To further cater for the increased requirements of 4-Line customers, Hikvision is about to release its iVMS-5200 Pro VMS that will provide a host of additional functionality to customers, including ONVIF compliance. Sensor Security had a demonstration version on show – because the final release is not available yet. The 5200 offers features such as people counting, heat mapping, licence-plate recognition as well as high-performance and high availability hardware. It also manages access control and alarm systems.

Sensor explained that the 6-Line systems from Hikvision include speciality cameras such as the Darkfighter – which produces colour images in almost total darkness – as well as a 120-metre IR camera, among others. Sensor also sells Hikvision’s covert cameras, which are also plug-and-play devices for specialised requirements.

Jean Brown, director of Sensor Security, says, “Sensor sees the success in hosting such events as it adds that very important personal touch and on-going service to both our current and prospective clients, which are very important aspects of our business morals.”
