Leslie Oglethorpe, regional training and technical support officer at Elvey’s Cape Town branch was on the Elvey stand at the retail event. The company catered to various markets with its display, including the CCTV, access control, intrusion and alarm markets.
Oglethorpe says the speakers were exceptional and provided interesting and worthwhile information to the audience. He picks out Francis Cronjé as one of the best, saying he learned much about PoPI and the effects the new law will have on the security industry – and business as a whole. Deon Sloane’s presentation also gets a mention as being very informative and interesting, providing insight into how a company secures an area as large as the waterfront.
Of the products on the stand, Oglethorpe says DSC’s new alarm panel is proving a hit. The device has a touch screen keypad with a comfortable feel and is very user friendly. This simply adds to the brand’s quality and reliability, a reputation it has built over many years.
The new Dahua HDCVI cameras were also on display, again proving popular with customers as this technology allows users to extend their analogue installations into the high-definition arena without having to pay a fortune. (HDCVI is an analogue technology that offers high resolution images over traditional analogue infrastructure.) In fact, Oglethorpe says the HDCVI cameras offer the same quality image as IP cameras, but for much less.
The cameras are not only pleasant to look at, but they are built from quality components that can stand up to any competitor. Visitors to the Elvey display were able to see the cameras’ capabilities on the stand and judge the quality they deliver for themselves.
On the access control side, the Elvey stand had Impro’s latest kit on show and this was also popular with the guests.
