Meeting estate managers and installers

January 2015 Residential Estate (Industry), News & Events, Conferences & Events

“An excellent networking platform and exposure of products to the niche residential estate market.” This is the view of John Powell of Powell Tronics who says the event also allowed his KZN regional employees Carol Wicks and Fraser Matchett to meet estate managers and installers. He believes that participation in events like the seminar/exhibition are very important in not only increasing the company’s footprint, but in also gaining a better understanding of end user requirements.

The seminar encapsulated an important awareness programme that brought solutions directly to estate managers who are often active participants in the security system decision-making process. By participating as an exhibitor, Powell believes that the company’s products will be kept top of mind for estate managers and installers. In addition, it indicates to the company’s suppliers that Powell Tronics is not only committed to 'supporting the trade', but is adopting a proactive marketing approach in expanding the reach for these leading brands.

On show were the company’s own visitor management and contractor management systems – PT-SCAN and PT-GUEST, which has evolved through custom development required by some of the most prestigious estates in SA. The MorphoAccess SIGMA Series biometric access reader and MorphoTablet were also on display. Rounding out the offerings were Impro’s latest Portal range of equipment and Golmar’s stylish IP intercoms.

The SIGMA Series biometric access reader has fast gained acceptance in the market and recently won the Best of Biometrics Award at the 2014 New Product Showcase (NPS) held by the Security Industry Association in Las Vegas. Complete with a built-in camera, speaker and microphone, the SIGMA Series has the look and feel of a tablet, making user interface easy and intuitive.

Powell says that as estates grow/mature portable devices like the MorphoTablet will become more desirable technologies, as they have the capacity to enhance security, drastically improve the visitor experience and give meaningful accurate data to the estate management.

The Impro Portal range is the latest in access control technology and the Access Portal Lite is ideal for smaller estates where budgetary constraints and lower traffic volumes are deciding factors. It is a fully embedded Web solution that does not require a PC or software. Similarly, Access Portal Pro is ideal for medium to large commercial and residential properties, allowing 5000 tags per site. This web-based system operates on a single powerful platform that is exceptionally capable, yet simple to configure.
