CAMPROSA, the Campus Protection Society of Southern Africa, will be holding its annual conference from the 7th to 9th September 2014. This year’s event will be held at the Sun International Hotel in Gaborone, Botswana.
The theme for the 2014 conference is ‘Protecting Educational Institutions and Ensuring a Safe and Secure Learning Environment’. A draft programme can be found at http://www.camprosa.co.za/camprosa-conferences/2014-camprosa-conferrence/conference-program.
On Sunday the 7th, attendees will be able to check into the hotel before being taken on a tour of the University of Botswana’s campus. This will be followed by a welcome function at the hotel.
The conference will begin on Monday the 8th, hosted by CAMPROSA president, Roland September, and facilitated by Timothy Maurice Webster. The opening address will be delivered by the deputy vice chancellor, finance and administration at the University of Botswana, Dawid Katzke.
The rest of the morning session will include presentations by esteemed speakers including the deputy commissioner of the Botswana Police Services (Operations), Victor Brunoh Paledi; a presentation on the human factor auditing of CCTV systems by Dr Craig Donald will follow. This will be followed by an update on identity fraud by Conrad van der Merwe, CO at Justicia, as well as a presentation by forensic director, Dave Loxton.
The afternoon session will include a presentation by Andre Snyman, founder of E-Blockwatch on the subject ‘Protect one another – it starts with you’. He will be followed by a presentation on enhancing safety and security at student residences through the LCC programme, by Dr Kitso Sedisa, director of student welfare, University of Botswana. The final presentation will be by Helmoed Heitman, correspondent for Jane’s Defence Weekly and a Member of the SA Defence Review Committee.
