If you want to supply power to devices such as IP cameras and phones, or WLAN access points, you need either a power cable or switches that support Power over Ethernet (PoE). Hirschmann’s new PoE injector, the SPIDER Giga 2TX PoE EEC, offers a practical and cost-effective alternative.
The SPIDER Giga 2TX PoE EEC allows networks to be equipped with Power over Ethernet functionality without having to replace a single standard switch, thus enabling the powering of a wide variety of devices directly with a data cable. This not only provides a great deal of flexibility, it also reduces your costs, because there’s no need to install separate power supplies, extra sockets or power lines – just connect the data port of the PoE injector to a switch and then connect the relevant terminal device to the PoE port. Since the PoE injector can supply up to 30 W, devices requiring higher power consumption is possible.
The SPIDER Giga 2TX PoE EEC is equipped with two RJ45 ports for 10/100/1000 BASE-T(X), one of which also supports PoE+ (max. 30 W in accordance with IEEE802.3at). The PoE injector meets the requirements of ingress protection class IP30 and also includes features such as plug-and-play activation, an operating temperature range from -40°C to +70°C, and a redundant power supply (24/48 VDC), with LEDs to display the status of its own power supply and PoE port.
The PoE injector is ideally suited for applications such as IP cameras, IP phones or WLAN access points – all of which require a power supply. This is because, under even the most rugged conditions, it permits flexible and cost effective solutions using the network’s existing data lines.
