About 10 years ago, running a security company that was selling alarm systems was a very profitable business. It was the time when not everybody had an alarm system and it was still being perceived as a real deterrent. Security companies would sell an alarm system at a significant profit and the market was still young enough to have enough growth potential for everybody.
Nowadays it is hard to find someone without an alarm system, whether it is a brand new high-end technology product or an outdated dip-switch wired system. The perception of the end-user is that an alarm system must be free which unfortunately has spoiled clients into believing it is the only way to obtain a new alarm.
The free alarm system has prevented the penetration of new security products into our market.
Our Jan Alleman was sold an alarm system a few years back by a prominent international company. Later in his life, another salesman sold him outdoor-detection and Jan decided to move to a local security company. Recently a private installer sold him an electric fence. He has probably spent more time with security experts than he had with his mother-in-law.
Most of the security systems that have been sold to him do not provide a solution to his problems. He cannot have outdoor protection without false alarms. Jan does not have a decent battery backup if there is a power outage.
He is being charged for overactive alarms by his current service provider. Jan has been told to switch off his outdoor beams during the day as they were found to be the cause of many of the false alarms. Jan is now at a turning point and he is contemplating self-monitoring as a solution.
Jan’s service provider is also at a turning point. This service provider realises that its customers are still paying the same monthly fee as five years ago, but the price of petrol has doubled and responding to false alarms is now a very costly exercise. This service provider would like to keep the monthly fee, but is there a way to lower the cost of monitoring?
Every security company is now facing the same challenge of losing customers.
At Videofied, we believe that we have a solution for every security company that wants to evolve with unsurpassed technology.

Changing the game
At Videofied, we have:
* An Eskom-free wireless alarm system independent of any external power source,
* Built-in video/voice verification, and
* A system that can work for up to four years on its own self-contained Lithium batteries.
Because of this, we have:
* No cabling at all,
* A verification of every alarm by video or voice, and
* Immunity to lightning and surges.
This means a lower installation cost, savings on unnecessary alarm responses and a better service to customers.
