Meniko Document Services recently announced the launch of its new GreenBox, an integrated device offering comprehensive identity management functionality. Brand New Technologies has now announced it has secured the rights to incorporate the Lumidigm Multi Spectral Imaging (MSI) fingerprint sensor into GreenBox (The name GreenBox may be changed for the Lumidigm compatible model). The enhanced product was on show at the Biometric Consortium Conference and Biometric Technology Expo in Tampa, Florida in the States.
In its original format, GreenBox scans identity documents, passports and driver’s licences. It also incorporates a standard fingerprint reader, signature pad and smartcard reader.
While GreenBox sounds like the ideal solution as it stands, Dave Crawshay-Hall, chief technology officer for Brand New explains that by using the Lumidigm MSI sensor as opposed to a traditional fingerprint reader, the device offers greater reliability and robustness. “Identity management is critical in this age but just as critical is knowing you have the best technology to vouchsafe biometric characteristics. MSI technology allows the sensor to scan below the superficial surface of the finger, returning an accurate result every time, regardless of the environment of condition of the finger.
“When combined with the other modalities, the Lumidigm scanner makes GreenBox a formidable product to beat!” concludes Crawshay-Hall.
