Ajax outdoor PIR with built-in camera

Residential Security Handbook 2021: Secure Living Residential Estate (Industry)

Digit FMS will soon offer the latest outdoor motion sensor with camera for alarm verification from Ajax. Branded MotionCam Outdoor, the sensor is equipped with two independent PIR sensors, the signals of which are analysed to distinguish real threats from interference.

In the event that a real threat is detected, MotionCam Outdoor takes a series of photographs in accordance with a user-specific setup and combines them into an animation which is then sent to the mobile phone app. The recipient is notified of the alarm event and can view the clip on their device to verify if the intruder is human, the angle of approach and number of persons in view. Quite often alarms are triggered by a known person who was not aware that the system was armed or simply forgot to disarm it, and in these cases the user can confirm with the security company that it does not need to send armed response.

The sensor has a settable detection distance from 3 m to 15 m, is weatherproof for outdoor use and has anti-masking detection to warn the user if someone has covered the sensor. Frequently break-ins are planned and known people are involved, so they take steps to disable the sensor prior to orchestrating the attack. If the device is tampered with or removed from the bracket while disarmed, the user is instantly notified.
