Thorburn’s early adaptation and convergence of AI technology to provide smart thermal fever screening solutions in quick response to the rising pandemic led to multiple award-winning projects at various blue-chip customers, who were extremely impressed with Thorburn’s electronic solutions teams around SA.
Integrated fever-screening solutions: The company adapted, designed and implemented thermal solutions in rapid reaction to COVID-19. An example is at the Chief Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban where Thorburn, in addition to CCTV and control room installation, donated and installed a multiple thermographic fever-screening solution. The advanced technology monitors and isolates elevated body temperatures of any persons entering the hospital, thereby identifying fever potentially associated with COVID-19. The benefits of advanced detection are the early warning at the point of contact, as well as proprietary imaging effects and long-distance detection.
Facial recognition: The health crisis highlighted the need for a hygienic and user-friendly touchless access solution that offers high-level access control. Organisations with access to areas containing confidential data or those with a high-level security clearance need a stringent security solution with no margin for human error. Thorburn’s face recognition terminal uses integrated facial recognition technology to manage door access (opening and closing) without the need for physical contact by the user. The terminal can be tailored to various scenarios, also supporting multiple authentication modes, e.g. face pictures, card images and fingerprints, is cost effective, user friendly, integrates with most existing access control systems, and has a reading range of 0,3 m to 1 m.
Thorburn also launched an array of Guard-to-Tech solutions, aimed at reducing the reliance on physical guarding through remote management systems, backed by monitoring teams, combining the latest surveillance technology. Thorburn optimises reaction to incidents and risks through innovative AI concepts.
